Schwien Picks Up The Win At URSS  Beloit Debut

 

The United rebel Sprint Series made it debut at Solomon Valley Speedway in Beloit Kansas Saturday night and when the racing action was over, Russell Kansas native Justin Schwien came out the Winner.  Nicknamed the “Beloit Bullring” the fast and tacky ¼ oval lived up to its name as the Rebels battled three wide throughout he night.

 

Goddard Kansas’ Josh Fairbank led the field to the green and took the early lead followed by Bill Hays, Smokey Fairbank, Ken Lutters and Ray Seemann to round out the top five. Josh Fairbank held the lead as Smokey Fairbank challenged Josh for the lead, the duo battled for the spot until lap nine when Smokey took the position. Quietly the “Kansas Tornado” Jon Johnson wove his way to the third position bringing Justin Schwien and Darren Berry along through the field.

 

Lap ten saw Johnson and Schwien take the top two spots as Smokey Fairbank, Josh Fairbank and Darren Berry fought for positions three through five. Further back in the pack, Ray Seemann, Cody Salem and Willie Wynn battled for positions 6th through 8^th, putting on a show for the fans in the stands. Schwien dogged Johnson for the top spot until lap 20 when Schwien used the backside of the bank on the backstretch to pass Johnson for the lead and never looked back.

 

The final laps saw Smokey Fairbank challenge Johnson for the runner up spot as Berry, Salem, Seemann and Josh Fairbank all fought for positions four through seven. When the checkers fell, it was Schwien taking the win with Johnson, Smokey Fairbank, Berry and Josh Fairbank rounding out he top five.

 

Justin Schwien picked up the Weld Racing Wheels “Hard Charger Award” coming from his eighth place starting spot to pick up the win.

 

The Keizer Aluminum Wheels B-Main was won by Cody Salem.

 

Heat Race winners were Darrin Berry, Justin Schwien and Mike Spear.
