Levi Wisecup Picks Up First URSS Feature Win At Hayden Speedway

The United Rebel Sprint Series made its way to Hayden Colorado to battle it out on the High Banked quarter mile bullring of Hayden Speedway. The Rebels were in hand for race number thirteen on the 2010 Schedule, so far they have had nine different winners and were looking to find the tenth winner in the young season. When the checkers fell, it was Oak Creek Colorado racer Levi Wisecup picking up his first ever URSS Feature win.

The duo of Sam Wisecup and Levi Wisecup lead the field to the green flag but soon the caution would wave as a couple of cars tangled with Judd Sheaffer ending up on his side. Sheaffer’s car suffered enough damage that it would not be able to continue.

On the restart, Sam Wisecup jumped out to the lead with Levi Wisecup, Jeremy Lueck, Tim Perkins and Cal Martindale rounding out the top five at the end of lap one. Levi turned up the pressure on the leader and took the spot on lap three. Jeremy Lueck pressured Sam Wisecup for the runner up position with Lueck wrestling the spot away on lap five.

Back in the field Parker Colorado’s Tim Perkins made his way to the fourth spot and was on the tail of the car of Sam Wisecup looking to take away the position. Perkins took the spot on lap six and set his sights on the leaders. Up front Lueck had caught Levi Wisecup and was pressuring him for the lead. Lueck took over the top spot on eight bringing Perkins with him to the runner up spot.

The trio of Lueck, Perkins and Levi Wisecup were locked in a battle for the point for several laps until on lap fourteen as the trio were three wide battling for the lead the caution waved as Lueck and Perkins touched and spun to bring out the caution. Perkins was done for the evening Lueck went to the pits and came back out on the track for the restart.

On the restart Levi Wisecup jumped out to the lead with Sam Wisecup in the runner up slot. Lueck made quick work of Martindale and set his sights on the leaders. Lap sixteen saw Lueck take the second spot for good as he relegated Sam Wisecup to the third spot. Up front Levi Wisecup held the lead with Lueck trying to make up ground on the leader. When the checkers fell it was Levi Wisecup taking his first URSS Feature victory with Jeremy Lueck, Sam Wisecup and Cal Martindale rounding out the top four.

After taking the checkered flag, Wisecup treated the fans to a series of donuts on the front stretch leaving the crowd screaming for more. Levi Wisecup is the tenth different driver to score a Feature win in 2010 with the United Rebel Sprint Series.

The Keizer Aluminum Wheels “Hard Charger Award” was picked up by Cal Martindale who in his first race in any type of race car came from his sixth place starting spot to finish in the fourth position.
