Patrick Bourke Biggest Dog at URSS Opener at “The Park”

The United Rebel Sprint Series made its debut at the all-new Colorado Motorsports Park in Byers Colorado Sunday with 19 Teams making the trip. The Rebels took to the 1/3 mile oval in the first time in the 2010 racing season. When the checkered flag fell it was Gypsum Colorado Patrick Bourke taking his first URSS Feature win of the 2010 season.

Gypsum Colorado’s Judd Sheaffer lead the field to the green flag and jumped out to the lead with Blake Bogenhagen, Michael Anderson, Tim Perkins and Reed Bernbeck rounding out the top five after lap one.  The caution would wave on lap three as Cole Wood and Blake Smith Jr. tangled.

On the restart, Sheaffer once again jumped into the lead with Bogenhagen and Anderson in his tire tracks.  Patrick Bourke soon was challenging Bernbeck for the fifth spot. Bourke took over the position on lap four and was soon Perkins for the fourth spot. Bourke soon made the pass and quickly moved in on Anderson for the third position.

Bourke made quick work of Anderson and second place Bogenhagen and was pressuring Sheaffer for the top spot. Lap seven saw Bourke take the top spot from Sheaffer with Bogenhagen holding down the third spot. Anderson, Perkins and Bernbeck were battling for positions fourth through sixth. Bernbeck made the pass for the fifth spot on Perkins on lap nine.

Back in the field, Michael Williams was cutting his way through traffic to make it up to the eighth position from his nineteen place starting spot. Williams was soon pressuring Jeremy Lueck for the seventh position.

Up front Bourke cruised to the victory with Sheaffer, Anderson, Bogenhagen and Bernbeck rounding out the top five.

The Keizer Aluminum Wheels “Hard Charger Award” was picked up by Michael Williams who came from his nineteenth starting spot to finish in eight place.
