New Faces Flood The URSS In 2007

January 7th, 2007 - After a successful first year, the United Rebel Sprint Series in poised to become the Premiere 305 Sprint Car Division in the Mid West. No less than 15 new cars and drivers have committed to run the Series for 2007 bringing the total to 30 or more cars. With its Series Rules package, the URSS continues to make 305 Sprint Car Racing affordable for both New Teams as well as Existing Teams and helps insure an even playing field as well.

Several veteran drivers as well as a crop of new drivers are ready to take to the track for another exciting season of racing.

Fremont, Nebraska native, Gregg Bolte was the 1999 IMCA National Rookie of the Year and has run in the 360 Division for six years and is returning to racing after a two-year layoff. Gregg is eager to return to the drivers seat in his Mirage Sprint Car and will be a threat to put a few more wins under his belt this season.

Lincoln, Kansas driver Mike Spear is also returning to the drivers seat for 2007. Mike ran with the Super Modified class back in the late 70’s and will be piloting his S.O.S. Engines powered Maxim Sprinter with URSS.

Hailing from Goddard, Kansas Josh Fairbank is no stranger to the dirt tracks of Kansas. After several successful seasons in the 600 Mini-Sprint and NCRA Modified Series, Josh will bring his “Wild Child Engines” powered Eagle Sprinter to the series for 2007.

Returning to the URSS for the 2007 season is St. Joseph Missouri driver Cody Salem. Cody will be driving for car owner John Tyrrell. Cody will be starting his sixth season in the Sprint Cars will be in position to add a few more career wins to his racing resume.

Topeka native Greg Thyfault will also be returning to the racing scene with a two car team. Greg raced Bombers and in the IMCA Stock Car division in Western Kansas in the 90’s. Greg will be driving a Michael Oliver powered Gambler in 2007.

17-year old Patrick Thyfault will be starting his first year behind the wheel of a Sprint Car with the URSS in 2007. Patrick will also be driving a Michael Oliver powered Gambler for his father Greg this season.

Another Father and sons team this season will be the Larry Radcliffe Racing team. Shawn Radcliffe and his brother Jeff Radcliffe will join the series in 2007 driving for their father. Both have raced in the Go-Cart divisions in the past, and are ready to hit the track.

Ransom, Kansas native Corey Lutters will also be stepping up into the Sprint Car class for 2007. Lutters has raced in the Hobby Stock and Econo classes and will be running a Myers Engine Service powered Jenkins in 2007.

Elwood, Nebraska native Bill Hays will be joining the Rebels full time in 2007. Bill has raced Go-Carts and 600 Mini-Sprints before moving into the 305 class. Bill will be piloting a Maxim Chassis with the URSS this season.

Cody Keiswetter will join the URSS this season as an Owner/Driver. Cody will take the wheel for his rookie season in his Myers Engine Service powered Eagle Chassis Sprinter out of Lenora, Ks.

Ian Christie from Limon, Colorado joins the 305 traveling series after running both 1200 Mini-Sprint and in the 360 Sprint car division.

Benjamin Chaffin will be joining the URSS for the upcoming 2007 season. Chaffin ran a half a season with the Jetmore 305 Series last season and will be driving a S.O.S. engines powered Hawk Chassis out of Kinsley, Kansas this season.

Reed Bernbeck will be joining the URSS Series in 2007. Hailing from Ransom, Kansas, Reed has raced in both the Cruiser and Econo Stock classes in previous seasons and has 5 wins to his credit. Reed will be piloting his Myers Engine Service powered Gambler in his rookie season.

16-year old Kasey Beckham from Valley Center, Kansas will also be joining the Series in 2007, this will be his first year behind the wheel of a Sprint Car.

Norcatur, Kansas native Todd Johnson will be joining the URSS driving for car owner Gene Gallentine of Oberlin, Kansas.

Chuck Lutters will be running a limited schedule out of Goodland, Kansas in 2007. Chuck has raced in a number of classes in Western Kansas and will try his hand this year in the 305 Sprint Cars.

The 2007 URSS Schedule is in the works and will be released soon. The Opening Weekend for the Series will be Saturday, May 5th at the Oberlin Speedway, Oberlin, Kansas followed by the first appearance for the Series Sunday May 6th at Dawson County Speedway in Lexington, Nebraska.
