Hemel Takes URSS Checkers At RPM Speedway

Fourteen Drivers checked in as the United Rebel Sprint Series 305 
Sprint Cars made their second appearance at RPM Speedway Saturday night.  
B-Main winner Bart Boyd led the field to the green flag but Heat Two winner 
Keefe Hemel made short work of Boyd and took the lead on lap one and never
relinquished the top spot in the caution free 20 lap feature.  Boyd 
gave chase to Hemel, Tommy Williams and Larry Radcliffe settled in to the 
second, third and fourth positions. By lap four.

Heat One winner Justin Schwien and URSS point leader Jon Johnson had made it 

up sixth and seventh places respectively and set their sights on fifth 

place Smokey Fairbank.  Laps six through eight saw a great battle for the 

eighth spot as Randy Bantam, Josh Hudson and Billy Smith battled each other 

lap after lap until Hudson took the spot for good on lap nine.  

Bantam and Smith continued the race for the ninth spot until lap sixteen 

when Smith captured the spot. A last lap challenge for the fifth spot by 

Schwein began in turns one and two with Fairbank holding the postion going 

into turn three. As the pair exited turn four Schwien took the low groove to 

take the spot away. Rounding out the top ten were Johnson, Hudson, Smith 

and Randy Bantam. 

The Heat races were won by Justin Schwien and Keefe Hemel, with Bart Boyd
taking the win over Tommy Williams in the B-Main. 

August 19th is the next stop on the URSS 305 Traveling Series when they 
hit the 3/8's mile oval at Sherman County Speedway in Goodland, Kansas.
